2010 Wildflower Reports
Aug 3, 2010 Cathy reports: Wildflowers GALORE along Hwy 88. Great swaths around the Woods Lake area, don't even need to hike far. Also beautiful along Hwy 89 thru Hope Valley - keep your eyes peeled around the aspen groves on the climb out of Hope Valley and you'll see oodles of tiger lily, columbine, geranium, larkspur, lupine, white orchid etc. The quaint meadows of S Upper Truckee Rd (parallels 89 along Meyers) are full of daisies and other bloomers. Go now, but bring your mosquito gear!

July. 6, 2010 Glenn reports: These were taken on 7/3/10 on Grizzly Peak (ol' Griz) near Medford, Oregon. Nikon D-70, 55-300 mm lens.

June. 16, 2010 Jim reports: Went to Alaska last week and found some wildflowers. The first is Dogwood and the second is related to the Lupine.

June. 1, 2010 Glenn reports: These were taken on 5/29 on the Southern Oregon section of the Pacific Crest Trail. The leader of the trip was disappointed as the cool spring weather has held back most of the blossoms. Nikon D-70, 70-300 mm lens.

May. 15, 2010 Glenn reports: These were found along the Rogue River Gorge trail off hiway 62 outside of Medford, OR. on May 14th. Nikon D70, 18-55 mm lens.

May. 1, 2010 Dave reports: Last weekend, 4/24 and 4/25, I was in the area near Marysville, and took these photos of lupine, clover, and triteleia. The oak trees and grasses are all really bursting into spring. The poppies are also starting to pop. Lots of other wildflowers are at their peak in the area now too. These were shot with a Nikon D80, 10.4MP camera. Thanks for maintaining such a terrific website. I regularly invite my friends and family to check out all the beautiful images of the gorgeous desert terrain showcased here!

Apr. 29, 2010 Glenn reports: These were taken on April 26th during the short hike up the trail on Upper Tablerock just north of Medford Oregon. After 27 years in the upper Mojave I now live in southern Oregon. As this was my first outing of the year I carried a Canon Powershot A550 instead of my Nikon D70.

Apr. 20, 2010 Cathy reports: Hwy 120 up past Oakdale and up to Yosemite is looking really nice with fields of yellow (butter and eggs? and goldfields). Up around Don Pedro there is lots of bush lupine, monkey flower, poppys and regular lupine - lots of easy roadside stuff, but worth getting out of the car when you can. The magenta blooms of the Redbud are choking the the Merced River Canyon up to Yosemite (Hwy 41) also lots of other roadside blooms, but no chance to stop and get out.

Apr. 17, 2010 Dave reports:I traveled to Table Mountain, around Oroville, CA. It’s a volcanic plateau that is arid and brown most of the year. But we’ve had a lot of rain this spring, and everything is so green and lush with carpets of wildflowers everywhere. I’d love to share the images I captured while there.
I traveled there on Wednesday 4/14 and shot these photos. There are goldfields, lupine, owl clover, monkey flower, and many others. Pools of water and marshy areas can be found all over still. The poppies haven’t started yet, so I expect there’s still another couple weeks of peak bloom. These were shot using a Nikon D80.

When will the wildflowers bloom? To plan your visit to coincide with the peak of the bloom, keep up to date with DesertUSA's Wildflower Reports. Be sure to bookmark this page for weekly updates.
